What is the origin of your olives? Where do you cultivate your olives?

We possess two main orchards, situated in upper Kula. Our newest orchard is situated on Waipoli Road and will soon house a farm stand that will showcase Maui Olive Oil and other agricultural products sourced locally. On the other hand, our more established orchard can be found on Polipoli Road in Kula and is already yielding fruit for oil production.

What is the quantity of trees you possess?

According to our calculations, the number of trees in our orchard is estimated to be around 5,000.

What is the number of varietals you cultivate? How many different types of grapes do you grow?

We currently have a diverse selection of 12 olive varieties in our growing collection. The majority of these are specifically grown for their high-quality oil production. However, we also have a few varieties that serve dual purposes, as they are suitable for both table consumption and olive production. Rest assured, we are dedicated to cultivating a wide range of olive options for our customers.

Is it possible for olives to thrive in any location on the island of Maui?

Certainly, olive trees thrive at all elevations. They possess a remarkable ability to withstand drought and adore basking in the sun and the fertile soils of Maui. Nevertheless, our experience has taught us that these trees necessitate a period of cold weather to enter dormancy and bear fruit. The optimal elevations for olive trees are from 2,000 to 4,000 feet, specifically above the Kula Highway, encompassing the areas between Upper Olinda and Keokea. We often advise aspiring olive growers that if they excel at cultivating bananas and papayas, it may be wise to abstain from growing olives. However, if they have proven successful in cultivating apples, plums, and peaches, then they should definitely consider growing olives.

What is the average duration for olive trees to bear fruit?

It typically takes olive trees around 3-5 years to bear fruit. On the island of Maui, flowers generally bloom in the early spring, specifically in late March and early April. The actual production of fruit usually begins between September and January, with the timing dependent on the elevation and specific location of the trees.
